Description

Dancapel Farmhouse is a 19th-century farmhouse constructed of painted rubble with a pitched slate roof. It is a two-story building with a three-window front, and an attached, lower two-story section with a single window to the right. The windows are 12-pane sashes with slate sills, simple reveals, and cambered heads. The roof has widely spaced brackets and brick end stacks. The facade is asymmetrical; the ground floor has three evenly spaced windows, while the upper floor has three similar windows, but the central opening is offset to the left and has a slightly lower sill. An aluminium stove pipe pierces the roof immediately to the right of this window, possibly replacing an earlier stack and explaining the offset. The lower range to the right is set slightly back and features a boarded timber door in the left-angle and a 9-pane replacement window on the right. The upper floor of this section has a single 12-pane timber sash window above the ground floor window. The right gable end wall is of unpainted rubble. The rainwater goods have been replaced with uPVC.

The building was not inspected internally. It is said that a large inglenook fireplace was removed in the 1970s. Internally, the farmhouse has been divided into two residential units with a common entrance and is largely altered, but retains ceiling beams.
