Description

The building at 2 King Street is a three-storey house and shop dating from the 18th century. It is constructed with colourwashed plaster over a rubble base, with a plinth. The roof is slate, pitched moderately, with deep, boarded eaves and rendered stacks. The building is divided into a three-window house on the left and a one-window shop front on the right.

The house to the left has twelve-pane sash windows on the first and second floors, positioned to flank a dummy window. These windows are surrounded by moulded architraves and feature brackets beneath the sills. The ground floor mirrors this design around the central doorcase. A moulded cornice sits over a plain frieze, supported by plain pilasters. A rectangular fanlight is above a panelled door.

The shop front to the right has twelve-pane sash windows on the first and second floors, similarly framed with moulded architraves and brackets to the sills. A flat hood with a plain fascia covers the shop front, supported by pilasters. A large rectangular fanlight is above a half-glazed door on the left, and a two-light shop window is to the right, with a plastered stallriser.
