Description
The Outer Courtyard Ranges at Dynevor Castle, also known as Newton House, are a Grade II* listed structure featuring one storey and an attic. These flanking ranges are adjacent to a single-storey west range that has an advanced and pedimented center for the coach house. The building is constructed of exposed rubble with freestone voussoirs forming triple arches at the coach house and triple flanking arcades, which include glazed lunettes. The roofs are slate, and there is an oculus in the pediment. The forecourt is cobbled and includes drains, along with boarded doors.
The south range has a stone tile roof and features eight hipped dormers with sash and case windows. The ground floor has triple arched openings, two of which are part-blocked and have inset sash windows. The range also includes Bandy's and Coachman's cottages, which have various sash windows and doors with fanlights on the sides of the south range. The south front displays a mix of chimney stacks, including two tall ones at the eaves, as well as cross gables, lean-tos, and buttresses against the main walls.
The north range is included with the Inner Courtyard. There is a screen wall on the east side that features double outer gateways and tall square piers, with a modern workshop extending through the screen. Additionally, there is a 19th-century lean-to supported by timber posts. This information is referenced in the Dynevor Castle guide book on page 25.
