Description

The entrance gates, piers, flanking walls, and railings to The Vicarage are designed in a Gothic style and date from the 19th century. The structure features double main gates and a pedestrian gate to the left. There are three Bath stone piers, each square at the base and transitioning to an octagonal shape at the height of the top gate hinge, capped with an ashlar octagonal pointed cap. There is a raised gate-stop on the inner side of the outer pier and on both sides of the intermediate pier. Each side has a short length of rubble wall; the right side curves with ashlar coping and a low iron Gothic rail, while the left side is higher with plain copings and may have been rebuilt.
