Description

The former entrance lodge to Plas Ystrad is a single-storey, octagonal building constructed with painted roughcast. It features an octagonal slate roof adorned with red terracotta ridges, although the original central stone cylindrical stack with coping has been removed since 1981. The eaves are detailed with fretted timber boards. The roof is supported by two plain timber posts, and the flat front facade includes a pointed central doorway with a ledged door. On either side of the doorway, there are casement windows with two pointed lights, which are currently boarded over but are said to resemble those in the former toll house at No 1 St Clear's Road.
