Description

This is a two-storey former toll house built on an elongated octagonal plan. The exterior features plain render and an octagonal hipped slate roof, which was originally topped with an octagonal rendered ridge stack but has since been altered to a plain rendered squared stack. The ground floor is finished in stucco with a raised stone plinth and a door located on the south front. There is a raised band between the storeys and the upper floor is roughcast. The door is from the 20th century.

The front of the building has late 20th-century casement windows on the three narrower faces, with the ground floor windows being longer. There is a three-light window above the door and two-light windows on each canted side. These windows have small panes and Tudor heads, with slate sills. The east side wall facing Jobs Well Road is windowless, featuring a narrow single light on each floor in the canted northeast angle. Small timber brackets are present at the angles under the overhanging eaves.

To the northeast, there is a single-storey range that projects forward towards the street. This range is made of painted rubble with a slate gabled roof. It has a boarded timber door to the left with a stone step, and to the right, there is a three-light casement window with a stone sill and matching glazing.

The west side wall is windowless and has an attached single-storey short rendered range with a 20th-century two-light window on the extreme right, which also has a stone sill. The left end wall features a small yellow brick stack and a small lean-to, which may have been a bread oven, in the angle adjacent to the adjoining building.
