Description
Towy Bridge is a road bridge featuring three broad elliptical arches made of reinforced concrete. It has sheer parabolic-curved cutwaters crafted from cut grey sandstone. The parapets are also made of cut sandstone ashlar, designed with alternating broad and narrow bands, and include modern Georgian-style iron octagonal lampstands. The parapets curve outward to the north and extend some distance to the south, where they continue into Llangunnor Community. The eastern parapet is positioned over a plain concrete railway bridge, while the western parapet slopes down towards the station approach. On the eastern parapet, there is an inscription in Welsh and English that commemorates the rebuilding and opening of the bridge, flanking a bronze relief plaque depicting the old bridge, created by H. Tyson Smith.
