Description

Plas Newydd is a house dating from the 19th century, constructed of rubble stone with grey limestone quoins. It has a steeply pitched slate roof that overhangs the walls, and stone end stacks. The house is arranged over one and a half storeys, with a two-window front elevation featuring large triple casement windows. These windows are set in yellow brick frames with slate sills, with the central window being fixed. Upper windows are set beneath the eaves, which have bargeboarded gables; the end gables have similarly decorated bargeboards. The main entrance is located in the south end wall, leading to a gabled porch covered with slate, including fishscale slates. A half-glazed door provides access, and the rear of the house is enclosed by a solid wall that is open to the south end with a low wall. Entry to the east side is marked by timber piers and angle braces. The rear elevation incorporates small-paned casement windows, two on each floor, along with a central stair-light, all set in yellow brick surrounds.

Attached to the front right corner is an iron railing set on a low stone coping, one stone of which is dated 1866. The railing consists of two iron rod rails passing through flat stanchions with scroll tops. To the left is an iron gate with dog-bars, set between two stone piers.
