Description
Plas Newydd is a farmhouse and barn, constructed from whitewashed rubble stone with a slate roof. The farmhouse features 19th-century overhanging verges and rendered end stacks, with a larger stack on the left side. It is a two-storey building with a three-window range, showcasing 4-pane sash windows that have stone voussoirs above their cambered heads. The sills have been replaced with cement. The central entrance is a 20th-century door, and the west end wall is windowless. There is no outshut at the rear of the farmhouse. To the left, there is a lower service wing with a door at the angle leading to the barn, which also has stone voussoirs.
The barn is attached at right angles to the farmhouse and has an asbestos roof on the main pitch, with slates on the rear. The main door is located to the right of the center, accompanied by a loop to the left and a blocked door further left, all featuring stone voussoirs. The rear of the barn has a lower door with a timber lintel and a vent loop to the right.
Inside, the barn boasts a 4-bay roof supported by tie-beam-and-collar pegged trusses, with a vent loop in the gable at each end.
