Description
The lychgate to the Church of St Cwrdaf is an open oak-framed structure supported by two low rock-faced stone side walls and topped with a slate roof. The walls extend at each end to create frames for oak bench seats and feature chamfered red sandstone coping. The west front has oak gates. The timber structure on the west and east sides displays similar details, with paired posts on each side that support a broad cambered main tie beam, which has a shield boss at the center and brattishing. Below the tie beam are carved spandrel pieces, and the gable features open framing. The roof overhangs, supported by carved brackets under the verges.
