Description

The stables and coach house at Tawelfan is a 2-storey structure located behind the main house, with a lower single-storey L-shaped range attached to its south side. The building is constructed of rubble stone with lighter dressings and quoins, topped with a slate roof. The openings feature either cambered or flat arches.

In the higher range behind the house, there is a tack-room doorway on the right, a stable doorway with a 2-light casement to its left, and a wider, taller coach house doorway that has a keyed head with a drip mould and replaced double doors. All doors are boarded and fitted with strap hinges. The right gable end includes external stone steps leading to a boarded door beneath a brick head, with a small tack room window to the left of the steps. The left gable end also has external stone steps leading to a boarded door, positioned above a stone mounting block.

Set back to the left is the lower L-shaped range, which features two camber-headed doorways with boarded doors. To the right of the right-hand doorway is a narrow window, while to the left of the left-hand doorway is a wider window that has a steel mesh. The return elevation includes a boarded door to the right, followed by double boarded doors for a cart, a blocked vent strip, and a split boarded door at the left end, where the roof is half-hipped. The rear of the building has a 2-light casement on the right that replaces an earlier doorway, along with vent strips and a lean-to greenhouse.

Inside, the tack room is panelled and retains a small fireplace, while the cart shed features a cobbled floor.
