Description
The Former Llanarthney National School is a single-storey school building constructed from local sandstone, topped with a slate roof. The front and right gable are made of ashlar in graded courses, while the rest of the masonry is uncoursed and hammer-dressed. The roof features a slight projection at the eaves and verges.
The front elevation, facing the yard, has three windows, each consisting of three lights with flat arch heads and Tudor label-moulds. Each light has two panes and a four-centred head, with sandstone sills. To the left, there is a later porch with a low roof, partly made of randomly coursed ashlar, which projects boldly. This porch includes a boarded door set beneath a straight-sided pointed arch.
Each gable end features a tall window with two lights, also having a four-centred arch and a label mould. At the rear, there are rendered 20th-century extensions, and one small original iron gate remains.
