Description
The War Memorial is a Grade II listed structure made of grey granite, designed in a classical style. It features a square base with a moulded plinth and a polished square shaft that has battered sides. Above the shaft are two polished square blocks, topped by a bulbous pyramidal cap. The cap, plinth, base, and the rebated rounded edges of the polished blocks have a matt tooled finish. The square base includes a coved upper moulding, while the plinth has a thin square base, an upper cove, and an ogee profiled main section. The battered shaft is inscribed with the names of the deceased, and the upper polished block features inscriptions along with etched military and funerary motifs. The heavy bulbous pyramid capstone is adorned with acanthus leaves at the angles. Surrounding the memorial is a stone coping with iron railings arranged in an interlinked oval pattern.
