Description

Myrtle Hill is a house constructed of whitewashed stucco with slate roofs, dating from the 19th century. The building features a long facade with two storeys and a three-window main house, accompanied by a continuous range to the right that has one window upstairs and two below. To the left is a two-window addition with a slightly lower roof. There is a slate-hung ridge stack located between the house and the service range, and a brick stack at the eastern end of the service range. The western end of the house is missing its stack. The windows are 4-pane sashes, and the entrance features a six-panel flush-panelled door with a traceried overlight set in panelled reveals. A timber columned porch with paired brackets supports the cornice and pilaster responds.

The eastern gable end and the northeast rear wing are made of whitewashed rubble, with a 4-pane sash window above a 20th-century door with an overlight, and another 4-pane sash window with a brick head. There is a lower addition to the north that includes a 4-pane sash window above a full-width entry with a timber lintel, which is now used as a garage. The rear lean-to of the main house has three gables over eaves-breaking 4-pane sliding sash windows, which are similar to the ground floor windows.

The original house has a two-room plan, with the entrance hall opened up to include a small west parlour. The eastern room has had its wall removed to create a single large room that connects with the eastern service range. There is a dog-leg stair located behind the hall, and the panelled doors date from the earlier 19th century. The rear northeast addition features details from the later 19th century.
