Description

East Lodge is a Grade II listed lodge built from squared red sandstone with tooled dressings. It features plain clay tile roofs that are steeply pitched, adorned with crested ridges, timber spearhead finials, and stone corniced stacks. The building has cast-iron rainwater goods and is designed in a picturesque cottage style, forming an L-shape and standing one-and-a-half storeys tall. It has a raised plinth.

The windows are small-paned, set in recessed chamfered surrounds with tooled heads and flush sills, while the main windows include stone mullions. The main elevation is the east gable, which faces the main road and drive. This elevation features a jettied upper floor that extends over a three-sided ground floor. Each floor has a three-light window, with the ground floor window having a mullion-and-transom design. The jetty is made of painted timber and is supported by moulded brackets on four chamfered posts; the two central posts are close to the wall, while the outer two are free-standing due to the wall being canted back. There is a timber low X-pattern rail between the posts.

On the right side wall, there is a lean-to timber porch that has a pointed boarded door, positioned at the angle of the lower northwest wing. This northwest wing has a lower ridge and eaves line, with one stone dormer breaking the eaves and a single-light window with a transom below. The north end wall features a two-light mullion-and-transom window on the ground floor and a small single-light window to the right in an outshut at the rear. A chimney is located on the main roof slope beyond the junction with the wing.

On the south side, there is a large central external chimney with offsets. To the right, a small stone dormer is situated above a ground floor two-light mullion-and-transom window, and there is an arched doorway beneath a hipped-ended tiled porch canopy supported by fretwork brackets. Additionally, there is a single-storey addition to the west.
