Description

Wellfield, also known as No 60, and Ravenscourt, No 58, are a pair of semi-detached villas built around 1830-1840. They are constructed of stucco with painted stone dressings and feature slate or imitation slate roofs behind parapets. The villas are designed as a mirrored pair, each with a two-window center and slightly advanced, bowed one-window sides. There are modern extensions at the rear.

The center of the villas has a deep parapet with a simple pediment applied to the right half of No 58, which has a dentilled cornice, while No 60 does not have this detail. Both villas have two first-floor sash windows; No 60 retains its original marginal glazing bars, while No 58 has plastic replacements. There is a broad sill band that is raised in the upper part. The ground floor features full-length windows, with No 60 maintaining its original marginal glazing and No 58 having plastic windows.

The wings of the villas are slightly lower and have broad curved projections. No 58 features a dentilled cornice, while No 60 has a plain raised course. The first-floor sashes are similar, with plastic replacements in No 58. The sill band is continuous across both villas, and No 60 has a similar full-length ground floor window. No 58 has a door with a segmental hood on brackets, dating from around 1900.

No 58 has a two-window range to the right with a first-floor sill band but is otherwise significantly modernized, featuring a hipped concrete tile roof. No 60 has a two-storey range to the left, built around 1900, with a half-timbered gable on the left bay.

There is a low rubble stone garden wall at No 60 and a rendered wall at No 58.
