Description

The Old Cottage Chimney is a 5-meter tall structure made of local stone. The chimney has a round, tapering shaft, but it is square on the inside and leans slightly to the north. It features projecting capping and dripstones. The base of the chimney is rectangular, measuring approximately 1 meter by 1.5 meters internally. To the south, there is a large opening that was likely larger when it was part of a cottage. On the north side of the chimney, there is a large semi-domed projection that houses the main oven, which has a cast-iron lintel and disturbed masonry above it. Additionally, there is a smaller oven on the east side, which is probably not original, with both ovens accessible from the interior of the chimney. A buttress at the southeast corner is likely a recent addition.
