Description
The Old Chimney, located in the garden of No. 25, is a cylindrical chimney built on a tapering base, featuring an oven and fireplace. Constructed from local rubble limestone, the cylindrical shaft stands approximately 2.5 meters high and has a diameter of 1 meter. The chimney is capped about 30 centimeters below the top, with drip courses at the base of the shaft. There are no remaining above-ground structures from the building it once served. It is believed to have been the lateral chimney on the west side of a cottage that dates back to the 16th or 17th century, which had its gable facing the street, as shown in an old illustration. This chimney is listed as a rare surviving example of this regional type.
