Description
The former entrance gateway to Lamphey Court dates from shortly after the construction of Lamphey Court in 1823. It features limestone ashlar gatepiers that are approximately 0.9 meters square and 2.2 meters high, with a simple square moulding and a low pyramidal top. The gatepiers stand about 3 meters apart, creating an in-swept entrance. Flanking walls are made of hammer-dressed limestone, and the lower outer piers are designed similarly to the gatepiers. Additionally, there are railings on the left side on a low wall in front of the gate lodge. This structure is listed despite its poor condition and the loss of the original gates, due to its group value with Lamphey Court.
