Description

Orielton House is a terraced house built with painted stucco and features a slate close-eaved roof with a brick chimney at each end. The house stands three storeys tall and has a single-window range, with a door located to the left of a prominent two-storey canted centre bay. The top-floor sash window is made of plate glass, while the canted bay also has plate glass sashes, along with moulded cornices on each floor and rounded angles. The entrance features a modern recessed door with an overlight.

At the rear, there is a one-window range to the left of a long, narrow rendered two-storey rear wing. The back of the house retains a remnant of slate-hanging, with a door at ground level, a narrow 15-pane sash window at the first floor, and a 12-pane sash window above.

The house has a narrow plan with a corridor to the left of a narrow front room. This front room includes boxed beams and a two-panel fielded-panelled door typical of the 18th century. The staircase, located at right angles behind the front room, features square balusters, thin turned newels, and a ramped rail, with a closed string. There are four flights of stairs leading up to the second floor, followed by a separate flight to the attic. The first-floor front room has a six-panel door and a Victorian iron grate. The second floor contains two fielded two-panel doors and one six-panel door. The attic stairs lead to a boarded door, supported by two plain pine trusses.

The long narrow rear wing includes a ground floor end room built into the hillside, featuring stone walls and a cambered-arched fireplace on a canted southwest wall. The first floor has a terrace over this room that provides access to the garden.
