Description
Seaways Bookshop is a detached house constructed from rubble stone with painted stucco cladding and a slate roof featuring stone end stacks. The building is two stories high and has a three-window range, showcasing late 19th century or early 20th century four-pane sash windows along with a central doorway. The door consists of two long panels with shaped heads and an overlight that includes lozenge-shaped tracery, similar to the details found on Hill House, Tower Hill, and No 6 Park Street. The windows are adorned with late 19th century or early 20th century stucco hoods that have moulded keystones, and the doorway is framed by a similar full surround, echoing details found on No 4 Park Street. The right end wall is made of rubble stone and features a loft window with a brick head.
At the rear, there is a wing with a hipped roof that includes a long stair light with marginal glazing bars and a brick head, a 12-pane sash window on the first floor to the left, and a 2-4-2 pane tripartite sash window alongside a small basement window. The front of the property is enclosed by low iron railings, which are complemented by stuccoed piers and return walls at each end.
Inside, the hall features a panelled elliptical arch leading to the staircase in the rear wing. The staircase is designed with stick balusters and a ramped rail, and there are slate steps leading down to the basement. The ceiling joists are moulded pine, and the right front room has panelled shutters, while an elliptical arch connects the front and rear rooms.
