Description

This house, dating from around 1800 and altered subsequently, is located in Milford, one of the original houses built during the town’s initial development phase between 1797 and 1810. It is constructed of whitewashed stucco over brick, with a slate roof and rendered brick end stacks. The front facade is two storeys high and features a three-window arrangement. The outer ground floor windows are tripartite sashes with 4-pane sections on each side of a central 12-pane section, and without horn detailing. The first floor centre window is a 12-pane sash. The entrance is accessed via a 5-panel door topped with an arched fanlight. A later 19th-century addition includes moulded stucco architraves and a columned doorcase with a double-curved pediment. Red tiles are laid in lozenge patterns inset over the outer ground floor windows.
