Description
The Masonic Hall is a two-storey building dating from the 19th century, featuring a stucco exterior and a slate roof with an Italianate classical style. The south end facade has a chapel-like appearance and is divided into three bays. It includes first-floor pilasters, an entablature, a parapet, and a raised pediment above the center, which is supported by simple paired pilasters. The first floor has three arched glazing-bar sash windows with moulded arched heads, an impost band, and a sill band. The ground floor features a broad band that is channel rusticated, with a plain sash window on each side of an arched central doorway that has a moulded arch and pilaster jambs.
To the left, there is a recessed section with a single window on the first floor, which is arched, and an altered entry on the ground floor. The east side wall facing Mansfield Street is plain and dry-dashed.
The interior has not been inspected, but photographs reveal that the temple features rich classical detailing, including a coffered ceiling, dado panelling, and twin ceremonial pillars.
