Description

The Belgian War Memorial is a war memorial built in 1919, made of polished red granite. It features a 16-foot tall obelisk on a pedestal that has a corniced and pedimented cap, supported by a three-step base. Surrounding the memorial is a granite kerb ring, which originally included railings.

The pedestal bears an inscription stating it was "erected by steam trawler owners and people of Ostend who were resident in this town during the Great War 1914-1919," with the message also repeated in Flemish. The memorial was made by Evan Jones of Haverfordwest.
