Description
The boundary wall enclosing the grounds of Hermon's Hill House dates back to the 18th century and is designated as a Grade II listed structure. It is constructed of rubble stone and reaches nearly three metres in height in some places. The wall runs south from the house up Hermons Hill and features a break and splay for an entrance to a garage courtyard at the top corner of the walled area. There are two blocked doors opposite Nos 6-7, and a rounded corner opposite No 7 where the wall turns east, descending downhill. This section includes a blocked entry with brick sides, and part of it has been entirely rebuilt. The wall steps downhill alongside the footpath running east before turning north, where it serves as a fully rebuilt retaining wall that follows the path as it turns north and continues along the top of the wooded slope over Quay Street. The northern end of the wall is inaccessible.
