Description

This is a terraced house located at 82 Main Street, built with painted stucco and featuring a slate close-eaved roof along with a rebuilt brick stack at the right end. The house has two storeys and a basement, with two bays that include renewed windows and a door. On the first floor, there are two horned 12-pane sash windows, which have replaced the original 4-pane sashes. The ground floor has a canted bay window to the right with 4-12-4-pane sashes and a flat roof, while the door to the left is also renewed and accessed by four stone steps. There is a basement door to the right.

The front wall is finished in painted roughcast and is complemented by low wrought iron spearhead railings, which include a central gate with similar rails and dog bars. The railings extend to the east of the forecourt and lead to matching double gates with dog bars. Another set of railings returns to the house to the east of the gates.

Inside, there is a passage to the left and a front room to the right, which features a 6-panel door and a marble fireplace that was brought in during the 20th century. The room has a small cornice and panels on either side of the bay window. A small staircase located behind the front room is dog-legged, with square balusters, a closed string, and thin turned newels. Steep stone steps lead down at a right angle to the basement, which consists of two rooms separated by a wall, and the floors have square joists.
