Description
Felin Wen is an early 19th century water mill constructed from rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. The building features a two-storey front, which includes two small 4-pane loft windows above. On the ground floor, there is a broad brick-arched cart entry to the right, a 12-pane sash window with a brick head in the center, and a lower window to the left with stone voussoirs. The left end of the mill has a wheel-pit that houses an iron and timber overshot water-wheel, which includes iron rims and center, along with timber paddles, spokes, and shaft. The first-floor window on this side has a brick arch above it. The right end of the mill is built into the bank and features a loft door on the first floor, with a timber lintel and a similar brick arch above.
Inside, much of the floor has been removed, revealing four collar-trusses supporting the roof. At the left end, there are substantial remains of machinery within a heavy timber structure, dated 1842, which includes a pit-wheel and a single wheel positioned horizontally beneath the stones.
