Description

Willesden House is a three-storey building constructed with painted stucco and a slate roof, featuring boxed eaves that were renewed in the late 20th century, along with 19th century yellow brick end chimneys. The facade has five windows and is characterized by thick bands above the ground floor and just over the first-floor window heads. The windows are small-paned hornless sashes, with six panes on the top floor and twelve panes elsewhere. The central entrance is located in a flat-roofed stuccoed porch, which is mostly a late 20th-century replica, complete with angle columns, a frieze, and a cornice adorned with small modillions. The porch features a 20th-century panelled door in a plain surround, and there is a basement window on each side of the porch. To the left of the porch, there is an arched doorway with a plain fanlight, a four-pane sash window above it, and another sash window on the top floor. The southeast rear wing extends in two sections and has undergone significant alterations.

The late 19th-century front railings are set on low stone coping and feature two linked sections with an arch over a small spearhead and a larger spearhead on every fourth rail. The railings are splayed on either side of the porch and include gates leading to the basement steps.

The interior has been much altered for use as flats. A staircase runs at the rear parallel to the front wall; it was replaced up to the first floor in the late 20th century with an early 19th-century dog-leg stair that has scrolled tread ends, turned balusters, and a column newel. The staircase consists of one long and one short flight leading to the landing, where there is a blocked arch with imposts and a keystone at the top landing. Some panelled shutters remain in the interior.
