Description
The churchyard gates and railings at the Church of Saint Thomas a Becket consist of two square Gothic gatepiers made of cast iron, each featuring plinths and shallow Gothic panels on every face, topped with a moulded cornice and a gilded Gothic finial on a pedestal. The finial is designed as a fliate cross with four arms. The double gates are adorned with spearhead finials above the top rail and a double mid-rail. There are thin, plain wrought iron railings that extend a short distance from the southern pier to the corner of No 5 Church Lane, and a longer section that follows the footpath around the northern and eastern sides of the churchyard. The stanchions of the railings are decorated with scrolled fleur-de-lys finials.
