Description
Elmside is a house featuring painted roughcast with a stucco plinth, sill band, and surrounds for the doors and windows. It has a slate roof with flat mutules at the eaves, similar to those found on No 2 East Back and Melbourne House/Hamilton House across the street. There is a red brick chimney stack on the left and a rendered stack on the right. The house is two storeys high and has three bays, each with horned plate glass sash windows set in later shouldered surrounds, complete with slate sills.
The central doorway is arched and framed by a cement rusticated surround adorned with vermiculated blocks and a keystone featuring a lion mask. Above the six-panel door, which has reeded panels below and raised panels above with quadrant rebates at the corners (similar to No 2), there is a plain fanlight. The plinth includes basement vents. The interior has not been inspected.
