Description
No 1 Lansdowne Cottages is part of a terrace of five small houses built in a formal design along a curve. Each house has a flat front, with No 2 featuring two projecting elements, and Nos 4 and 5 designed as a three-bay pair with an entrance bay. The street-facing elevations are finished in painted stucco and consist of one-window ranges, each with a side door. The buildings are two storeys tall plus a basement, featuring a deep first-floor sill band, a moulded cornice with small modillion brackets, and a heavy panelled parapet with a moulded top. The two projecting sections have an additional blocking course above the top cornice. The roofs are covered with 20th-century concrete tiles. The houses have sixteen-pane hornless sash windows and flat-headed doorways with late 20th-century six-panel doors and overlights. The rear of the houses includes a 12-pane sash window on the first floor and a small four-pane dormer above. There are various lean-to additions at ground level. No 1 has windows on both floors and a door to the right, with a pavement light positioned in front of the ground floor window.
