Description

Dolphin Cottage is a terraced house dating from the 18th century, featuring white-painted stucco that mimics ashlar stonework, a steep slate roof, and red brick end stacks, with the right stack positioned against the taller side wall of Cofion Books. The roofline is continuous with the adjacent No 2 on the left. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a double-fronted design.

All the woodwork has been renewed since the listing in 1977. The upper floor has two gabled windows that break the eaves, both fitted with 12-pane sash windows, although the sills are set higher than those of the adjoining No 2, suggesting possible alterations. On the first floor, there is a 12-pane sash window on the left and a tripartite 4-12-4-pane sash window on the right, with the sill slightly elevated. The ground floor features a 12-pane sash window to the left and a rectangular bay window at the front, which has a 16-pane sash and a 4-pane side light on the left, continuing to the side wall of the premises occupied by Cofion. The bay window has a slate roof that is hipped to the left.

The central doorway is framed by a timber doorcase with fluted pilasters and a panelled frieze between brackets, which is a 20th-century imitation of the original doorcase, and it contains a 20th-century panelled door. The building stands on a raised plinth. Inspection of the interior is not available.
