Description

Ebenezer Congregational Chapel is a 1871 chapel constructed in unpainted scribed render with a low pitched slate roof. The east front features a pedimental gable and is two storeys high, with a basement storey on the south side.

The front has raised cement dressings, angle pilasters, pedimental mouldings, and a plinth. There are four long arched windows on the upper level, each set in moulded architraves with keystones, and two paired doors in similar surrounds. The doors have four panels, with the upper panels arch-headed, and are topped with traceried fanlights. The windows include glazing bars, margin lights, and traceried heads. A rectangular plaque in the pediment reads 'Ebenezer Congregational Chapel 1871'. To the right of the doors, there is a date plaque from the previous chapel, which states 'Ebenezer Soli Deo Sacrum Built by Subscription A.D. 1815'. The forecourt is enclosed by a rendered low wall with iron spearhead railings and matching gates set between cast-iron octagonal piers.

The north side has a high rubble base with a pebbledashed wall above, featuring four arched windows. The south side is rendered and also has four arched windows in moulded frames similar to those on the front. Above the basement, there is a moulded course with three flat-headed windows and a door, all in moulded frames with keyblocks. The rendered end wall features a moulded pediment and one square vent in the pediment.

The chapel has not been inspected.
