Description
The retaining wall at Pier Hill, constructed from squared rock-faced grey limestone, features a rubble stone sloping parapet wall. The wall rises in height from the northern end, where it curves to join the pier, to the taller southern end against Penniless Cove Hill. Attached to the right-hand end of the wall is a former lifeboat house, which is a lean-to structure positioned between the wall and the Fishermen's Rooms. This lean-to has a slate roof and grey stone tooled jambs at the entry, which are shouldered in to support the lintel.
