Description
Castle Court is a house built in white-painted stucco with a slate close-eaved roof that connects to No. 2. It features a broad facade with three storeys and a three-window range. The windows are sash style, and there is a full-height canted timber bay on the left, which has cornices. The bay contains 4-16-4-pane sashes, while the central section has an 8-pane sash above the door and a 12-pane sash on the upper floor. The right side has a 12-pane sash on each floor. All sashes are horned and were replaced in the late 20th century.
Five slate steps lead up to the central doorway, which has a renewed wood doorcase with a pediment, resembling the original that featured fluted pilasters and a pediment. The fanlight above the door has radiating bars, and the current door is a 20th-century replacement of one with two long panels similar to that of No. 2. The low front railings, which were previously listed with the house, have also been replaced in the late 20th century.
The right end wall has a loft light with a brick sill, a 20th-century 12-pane sash on the second floor, and a ground floor lean-to featuring a half-glazed door leading to flat No. 1 and a 16-pane window.
At the rear, which is two storeys high due to the slope, there are outside steps leading up. The first floor has a 20th-century 12-pane sash on the right and a projecting hipped stair wing on the left. This wing includes a 4-pane window above a half-glazed door with a 9-pane overlight. An additional piece has been added to the right side of the wing, featuring a dormer and a door in the side wall.
To the left of the front is a curving rubble stone retaining wall, approximately 30 meters long, which has a doorway with a red brick head that connects to the house, providing access to the flats.
