Description
The walls surrounding the roughly square walled garden at Cartlett House are constructed of galletted rubble stone, with particularly large blocks at the southwest corner. The garden is situated at a higher level than the front garden of the house and is accessed via 11 slate steps leading to a door set in a projecting rubble stone doorway, which features a slate lintel and a rubble pediment. There is a similar gateway on the north side, as well as a small Gothic doorway that is blocked in the northeast angle. The southeast angle of the wall is curved to align with the road. Additionally, a high rubble wall connects the west wall of the garden to the east wall of the house.
