Description

12 Nun Street is a row of four houses built in the later 19th century. The houses are constructed of rubble stone, originally with grouted slate roofs, which have been replaced with imitation slate on all but number 12. They have three stone chimney stacks. Each house is two storeys high with two windows. The upper windows are 9-pane sashes and the lower windows are 12-pane sashes, with a door below. The window and door surrounds are red brick with a cambered top. The houses were built as two pairs, with a visible straight joint between numbers 8 and 10. Each pair features closely-spaced doors and windows above. Modern doors have been installed. Number 12 has had its ground floor sash window replaced with a modern tripartite sash window with a 4-12-4 pane arrangement, set under a concrete lintel. Purple stone quoins are visible at the northwest corner of the building.
