Description
Church Cottage is a two-storey cottage with two bays, offset to the right. It is constructed from rubble stone and has been colour washed. The slate roof, with grouting from 2001 that is only partially surviving as of the May 2023 inspection, features a large stone stack on the left gable and a brick stack on the right gable, both of which were rebuilt in 2016. A thin cement wash was applied to the right-hand stack during this work. The cottage has four-pane casement windows with projecting stone sills, with the upper windows positioned directly below the eaves. There is a modern skylight on the rear. The central boarded door is offset to the right and is a modern replacement. To the right, there is a single-storey extension that is set back. The rear elevation includes a central window on the upper floor and a narrow two-pane window to the right on the ground floor.
Inside, there is a large fireplace with a timber bressummer that survives in the former kitchen to the left. The extension features exposed rafters and joists, and the upper floor of the house also has exposed rafters. Other internal features are 21st-century reconstructions.
