Description
North Lodge is a lodge built in the Italianate style, featuring a near-symmetrical cross plan with a one-and-a-half storey axial range and single storey wings to the north and south. The exterior is finished in whitewashed stucco with painted brick raised dressings, and it has slate roofs that are deep-eaved and supported by brackets, with a low pitch that extends well beyond the gable ends on fretted brackets.
Each wing has two bay verandahs on either side, supported by wooden posts with brackets and with the roof extending over them. The door and window surrounds are made of painted brick, and there is a ground floor sill course and an eaves band that continues across the gables.
The main range features a pair of ground floor casement windows with top lights on the east end, set in a shouldered surround with jambs that extend down to the ground below the sill course. The first floor has an arched window with a casement pair and a tilting fanlight, with the arched head breaking into the gable and featuring a keystone. There is a stack on the north side wall, and a door on the north side at the end of the verandah.
Both wings have matching verandahs, gables, and brick dressings. The south wing has a central door in the gable end, set in an arched surround with a keystone, along with a single window on the east side. The north wing differs by having a door and window in the north end wall, as well as a single window on the east side.
