Description
The former coach-house to Falcondale House is a Grade II listed building that features a three-sided court with a high two-storey main range and low single-storey wings. The structure is finished in stucco with slate eaves roofs, while the rear showcases exposed rubble stone. The ground floor of both the wings and the main range has arcading with a stone impost band. Originally, each wing front had three arches, with one on the wing end walls and three on the main range, although the latter are irregularly spaced, with one to the left and two to the right, suggesting possible alterations.
The main range has a high upper floor with late 19th-century casement pairs, featuring one window to the left and two to the right. These windows have cambered heads and are situated beneath half-timbered shallow gables that break the eaves. The upper windows do not align with the arches below. There are two stone ridge stacks, and the north end is constructed of rubble stone, which includes a first-floor arched loading door.
On the ground floor, the left arch is open and has a raised keystone, while the pair of arches to the right, also with keystones, have been infilled with 20th-century workshop windows. The north wing retains the original arch to the left, but the other two have been replaced by two full-height double doors. The left door features ledged doors and a segmental-headed 2-light small-paned overlight. The east gable end has a similar 2-light window in an arch, with the impost band carried across as a sill and no door.
The south wing has a similar window in an arch lunette on the east end wall, along with three original arches on the front. The central arch mirrors those on the end walls, with the impost band carried across and a 2-light small-paned window in the lunette. The arch to the right is open, while the arch to the left has boarded double doors.
