Description
18 Alban Square is a simple classical terrace built in the 19th century, featuring two storeys and three symmetrical window fronts. Number 15 is slightly advanced and has a hipped roof. The front façades of numbers 15 and 19 are finished in scribed render, while numbers 16 to 18 are roughcast. Number 19 has end pilaster strips, and numbers 15 and 18 display rusticated quoins. All buildings have cill bands on numbers 18 and 19, and plinths on all.
The roofs are slate with wide boarded eaves, and there are rendered and rubble chimney stacks. Numbers 15 and 19 have 12-pane sash windows, except for the ground floor of number 15, which features 16-pane windows. Lugged architraves are present on numbers 15, 18, and 19, with keystones on numbers 15 and 18. Numbers 16 and 17 have voussoir lintels. The ground floor windows of numbers 16 to 19 are set in segmental arched recesses, with architraves on numbers 18 and 19.
The arched entrances of numbers 15, 18, and 19 are designed in two orders, featuring panelled architraves and keystones on numbers 15 and 18. Numbers 16 and 17 have Georgian pedimented doorcases at their arched entrances with panelled reveals. Number 15 has a three-panel door, while numbers 16 to 18 have five-pane fanlights, and number 19 boasts a six-panel door with an Art Nouveau glass fanlight.
