Description

13 Water Street is a Grade II listed building featuring a group of simple classical two-storey fronts with scribed render, except for No 12, which is finished in pebbledash. The buildings have rusticated quoins, end pilaster strips, cill bands, and plinths. The front of Nos 8, 9, and 10 is asymmetrical, with No 8 having a two plus two window arrangement, while Nos 9 and 10 have two plus one windows. Nos 11 to 14 each have three-window fronts. The roofs are slate with wide boarded eaves and there are eight cement render chimney stacks.

Nos 10, 12, and 13 feature 12-pane sash windows, while Nos 9, 11, and 14 have 4-pane sashes. No 8 has various sash windows, including a splayed bay window to the right, and No 10 has a later two-pane sash on the ground floor. All windows, except those on Nos 8, 9, and 10, have lugged architraves and ornamental keystones, while No 13 has voussoir lintels. The entrances are arched with keystones, except for No 13, and have panelled architraves on Nos 8, 11, 12, and 14.

The doors are recessed, with No 8 featuring a panelled door with an intersecting ribbed fanlight, No 9 having a half-glazed door with a six-pane fanlight, and No 10 with a four-panel door and a five-pane fanlight. No 11 has a three-panel door with a seven-pane fanlight, No 12 has a boarded door with a two-pane fanlight, and No 13 has an eight-panel door with a five-pane fanlight and scribed reveals. No 14 has a six-panel door with a five-pane fanlight. Additionally, there is a further four-panel door with a fanlight to the right of the bay window at No 8, and beyond that, a boarded door with a panelled architrave and ornamental keystone. An irregularly curved arch leads to a lane on the right.
