Description
Dyffryn Arth is a mid-19th century farmhouse built for the Trawscoed estate. It is not located on the same site as the farm shown on the 1843 Tithe Map, which was owned by the Earl of Lisburne and occupied by Stephen Jones.
The farmhouse is constructed of rubble stone and features a slate roof, with whitewashed stone corniced end stacks. It is two stories high and has a three-window range. The windows are hornless 16-pane sashes with slate sills and stone voussoirs. The central entrance has a ledged door with a margin-glazed overlight above it. The doorcase is timber panelled, with a flat moulded hood supported by iron brackets. The end walls and rear of the house are stuccoed, and there is an outshut at the rear.
This farmhouse is noted for its fine regional characteristics in the late Georgian style and is built on a larger scale than is typical for the period.
