Description

The Jenkins Monument is a table tomb located within a large square enclosure surrounded by railings, situated to the west of the Church of St Cynwyl. The tomb features a lettered slab set on a heavily moulded low plinth. It commemorates Captain Thomas Jenkins, who died in 1853 at the age of 75, along with his wife Jane and other family members. The railings are made of heavy ashlar with a low coping, topped with spearhead iron rails and a gate. The gateposts are notable for being two re-used small naval cannons that have been upended, each adorned with matching spearheads.
