Description

Blaenannerch Calvinistic Methodist Chapel and Vestry was built in 1838 and features walls made of squared sandstone topped with a slate roof. The lateral facade includes six arched openings, all with vousoirs. There are two long windows in the center, flanked by two outer gallery lights above two doors. The woodwork dates from 1896 and includes 2-light tracery in the windows and cambered-headed ledged doors with crescent overlights. A slate plaque is situated at the center. The west end has a single long window with a cambered head, while the rear has two long windows with 2-light tracery. The east end features a similar window and a vestry addition made of roughcast with a slate roof, which includes four cambered-headed six-pane sash windows and an arched door positioned between the first and second windows.

The 1896 fittings include an ornate curved gallery supported by seven cast iron columns made by Macfarlane of Glasgow. The gallery front has a deep bracketed cornice over the columns adorned with fretted decoration, and above it is a continuous cast iron panel with a double curved profile and floral designs. There is a framed clock at the center. Inside, there are pitch pine pews and a prominent great seat. The pulpit features curving steps on each side, arched panelling on the flanks, and a curved panelled front, with a pilastered arch behind it. The plaster ceiling is decorated with a central rose.

The vestry has a boarded roof with a Tudor-arched profile, a boarded dado, and a fireplace with a pine mantel and cast-iron grate. It also contains original cast-iron and pine Sunday school benches.
