Description
Plas Penglais is a late Georgian building featuring a double-pile plan with later extensions. It is a two-storey structure with an attic and basement, showcasing a three-window main elevation made of stucco and set on a tall plinth. The building has hipped slate roofs, wide bracket eaves, and three segmental-headed slate-hung dormers at the front. The windows are horned small pane sash types, and there is a plain doorcase with a stepped lintel, along with French windows that lead to steps onto an upper terrace.
The left side elevation has two windows with similar detailing, while the rear bay is set back. A later two-storey range made of roughcast extends to the left at the rear, featuring brick chimney stacks and small pane sash windows with overhanging and cambered heads. There is a single-storey splayed bay at the angle, with sash windows that have cambered heads but no glazing bars, and similar detailing is found at the rear. The main entrance has been relocated to the right side, consisting of three parallel hipped roof ends with a 1+2+1 window arrangement, set back in the centre. A hipped roof porch is offset to the left, featuring a six-panel door.
At the rear, there is a broad three-bay gabled outbuilding constructed of coursed rubble with a slate roof. This outbuilding has a blind gable roundel above a band course and a tripartite semi-circular window in the advanced central bay. Arched openings are located on either side, with square-headed doorways, and there is a garage opening to the right.
