Description
12 Laura Place is a late Georgian building featuring two stories, an attic, and a basement, with a seven-window front made of scribed cement render. The hipped slate roof has wide bracket eaves and rubble chimney stacks. The building has slate-hung dormers, with two dormers having modern windows and one dormer at No 12 featuring twin horned sash windows. The ground floor has taller small pane sash windows, while the entrance to No 12 is offset to the right and includes a hooded Doric doorcase with fluted columns, panelled double doors, and an ogee traceried fanlight.
The left side of the building is also finished in cement render, and there is a similar doorcase with fluted pilasters at No 11. The rear is made of rubble and includes dormers and sash windows with glazing bars, along with a modern extension to No 12.
Inside, the interiors maintain many original details, particularly in No 12, which was the residential part of the house. The entrance hall features a bracket and paterae cornice, and a panelled soffit arch leads to an openwell staircase with a tall landing window. There are panelled shutters and doors, barley twist columns, and reeded pilasters around the firepieces, some of which have Gothick traceried firebacks. No 11 has fluted newel balusters.
