Description

The War Memorial is a large Celtic cross constructed of silver granite. It stands on a substantial, curved-sided square pedestal bearing inscriptions and the names of the fallen. The cross is decorated with interlace patterns, and the front of the pedestal is inscribed with the words ‘Gloria In Excelsis Deo To The Honoured Memory Of The Men Of This Parish Who Fell In The Great War 1914-1918 Pro Deo Pro Rege Pro Patria.’ The memorial is set within a rock-faced granite kerb with four corner posts linked by iron chains. Two additional posts frame a sloping granite slab inscribed with the names of those who died in 1939-1945.
