Description
Penlan is a pair of simple classical buildings dating from the 18th century, featuring two storeys and a basement for No 4. They have three-window roughcast frontages topped with a uniform hipped slate roof, wide boarded eaves, and two rubble chimney stacks at the ends, with an additional one in the center. The buildings are adorned with 16-pane sash windows that have lintels.
No 4 has a pedimented late Georgian doorcase with panelled reveals leading to a semi-circular arched entrance. The door is vertically panelled and includes a 5-pane fanlight above. No 5 features a semi-circular headed doorcase with distinctive details, including a rope-moulded hood supported by barley twist columns with plain bases. This entrance also has panelled reveals, a 6-panel door, and a 6-pane fanlight.
The property is enclosed by low rubble garden walls topped with ironwork railings and gates. There are side passages with an iron gate for No 4 and a boarded door for No 5.
