Description
Abermydr is a single-storey and attic cottage that has been colourwashed, featuring a polygonal end on the left. The addition of two bays on the left has created a matching polygonal end. The original thatched roof has been replaced with slate and extends over a full-length verandah supported by chamfered timber posts, which have replaced tree trunks. The cottage has rubble end chimney stacks, with the left stack reduced in height to accommodate an attic. A gabled dormer was added in the late 19th century, featuring a later 7-pane Y-tracery window.
The original front of the cottage consists of three closely spaced bays, with pointed arched openings that include a central boarded door and a window on each side, both fitted with later 7-pane glazing. The two windows on the right belong to a later 19th-century extension and are wider arched windows, also with 7-pane Y-tracery. A cobbled pavement runs beneath the verandah. At the rear, there is a cross-range with an added conservatory, and the east side features a window with intersecting glazing bars.
Inside, the timber stair follows the line of the former polygonal right end, which is still visible. The cottage has boarded doors and a roof structure made of roughly hewn timbers. The studio on the right was originally a storeyed space.
